These children shock me daily! And not because they use vile language as I hear many young people doing when they’re out with their friends.
In this post, I’m going to simply list the charming, cool, funny, insightful and shocking things my kids say. Their brains are made of such fascinating stuff, I just have to share it. I have noticed, also, that our eldest (16) doesn’t say quite so many shockingly insightful things. Instead, he likes to start deeply thought provoking discussions instead of blurting out what’s on his heart. Perhaps, as we mature we learn to filter things to sound ‘sensible’.
In some ways, it’s a shame. Which is why I choose to keep a record here. I will edit this post and bump it to the beginning every so often with new words from the kids.
Long List of Things My Kids Say:
- “Want to know how much I love you, Mom?” Spoken from the back seat of the car on a rainy drive. “I love you as much as one of those drops on the windshield. One for you and one for Dad. All the rest are for God.”
– Shea, Oct 30, 2012
- During bedtime prayers: “And I thank You for your protection against poisonous snakes and tigers in our backyard.”
